Do You Remember When You Were Fifteen & In Love?

Taylor Swift – Fifteen

‘Cause when you’re fifteen and
Somebody tells you they love you
You’re gonna believe them
And when you’re fifteen feeling like
There’s nothing to figure out
But count to ten, take it in
This is life before you know
Who you’re gonna be
Fifteen
————————–
I fell deeply in love for the first time at the tender age of 15. I was a few months shy of 16 and knew it was love because I thought about him all the time, spent almost every waking hour with him and got that special gut feeling that I could be with him forever. He was the funniest, most wonderful person I had ever met up until then and I felt so lucky that he had chosen me.

I also knew it was love because I had never felt that way about anyone ever before… the other guys were just childhood crushes and this was the real deal – the stuff grownups talked about.  My mother wanted me to focus on school and forget about boys, but you know at that age I thought I was grown and wasn’t about to forget about him anytime soon.

Aw, I loved being in love at that age! We flew on a natural high as we experienced all the firsts in our relationship: the first time he walked me home, first time we held hands, first time we kissed, first time we said ‘I love you’, first time we had a fight and made up. No responsibilities, no worries – just lots of kissing, smiling, talking and being happy. We were the envy of our single friends and dreaded the ending of school which meant we’d have to separate. And separate we did; though we lasted a couple of years, inevitably we were separated for good.

I kept a journal in high school and every few years I like to revisit it. Reading things I had completely forgotten from my 15/16/17 year old self never gets old. It turns out I was having a lot of fun back then so my journal entries were few and far between, but reading the things I did manage to write down brings me right back to that special, wonderful time.

If you were lucky enough to be in love at that age you can probably relate. Some people are late bloomers,  but 15 is around the age when most people experiment and experience their first loves. Go ahead and clean the cobwebs out of your mind and let yourself revisit that special time. To give you a little assistance here’s a video that will be sure to bring you back to that golden time.
